Had a trip to Singapore with my coursemates...12 people all together...
Well its a long time since i go to Singapore together with friends...
I learned a lot from this trip...
First of all, I realize that I'm no longer the fan of fancy modern buildings. Don't know since when and don't know why. Its nice to look at and those buildings even wins a lot of awards, whatever sustainable, creative design or green awards.
Those buildings seems not realistic, cannot have anything to connect with me and bring no meanings to me. My opinion, a truly successful building must be able to connect with people and able to achieve its actual purpose. So, a building design itself is not a sculpture for people to look at and to understand the meaning of the design but is to make sure everyone that suppose to use the building feel comfortable with it.
Secondly, people tend to protect themselves no matter what they did and said. Its not wrong but sometimes when things get a little bit over people around you will feel it.. AND don't forget about 1 thing. Things are not only about to give and take but also to think and talk... I personally believes that its good that we can communicate with all people about what we think. However, do try to believe what people trying to say to you. When they say it, they meant it. Do you think elaborating more to hide the actual meaning of disbelief would help to solve the problem?? When a person expects others to be ignorance they are even mindless.
Thirdly, when going out in big group we should try to follow the group. Being able to plan the route of the trip doesn't means dominating. I'm labeled as the "like shopping". I don't have to deny. Its true that I like to shop. But does that means that I need to go shopping every time I step out the room?I'm sorry if I makes the journey delayed but I do respect people who tried their best to follow the plan. Its not my first time going in group to Singapore and I hope its not the last time. "Its good to be able to think but don't always think of other people weakness. Try to learned from what you see and experience."

p/s No offence.. Just my very own opinion..Im still learning, so it might be right or wrong. Take it if you think its true, Do leaves comments if you have your own opinion

  1. are u referring to me ?
i might sounds like 'leading' the trip, but i am certainly not trying to dominate the whole trip. When being in group and i knew some ppl might like to 'shopping' it is certainly better to bring my friends to shopping. personal interest like gadgets i prefer to shop alone as it is about myself. and majority interest in shopping has to be respected and look at, happy is when u see others enjoy on ur effort not when others follow u .

hmm . buildings are not the main priority in architecture. i am sure the first years will be obsess when they see good architecture .
the truth lies in when u dont see architecture in building as 'wow' that is a good sign . becasue u have started to realize design is not about how it looks .

dont get me wrong , steve jobs said this before "“Design is a funny word. Some people think design means how it looks. But, of course, if you dig deeper, it’s really how it works. To design something really well, you have to ‘get it.’ You have to really grok what it’s all about. It takes a passionate commitment to really thoroughly understand something…. Most people don’t take the time to do that.” .

  2. Erm...
I think you don't get what I meant...
Let me say it this way...
I agree with what you say...
In fact, its good to have that kind of thinking
    But,
When there are 12 peoples in a trip,
    How can you satisfied everyone?
Can you really know what the majority want??
Isn't it better if we all share different interest in different occasion and everyone try to enjoy it??
It will be sort of knowledge sharing then...
Ohya...thank a lot for the trip ya...
    and for your efforts....

    haha...Steve jobs again~
    kla...
    agree wit u la...
the design itself contain both the aesthetic value and functionality value...XD

  3. do not get me wrong as an apple fan .
i believe in biography or experience of a proven success from another person which we can learn .

apple has been a good brand and perhaps the only lifestyle gadget company out there, they innovations and creativity they have is just absolute. looking at how he saved the company from bankruptcy in 1997 until now . it is no doubt we can actually learn from there .

bill gates must be given attention that he managed to bring the software platform, Windows to the world . how he secured the dealing with multiple companies , how the management and how himself create The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and lowering his profile to work in the foundation rather than just put up a name .

deng xiao ping must be given attention with his concept in dealing with many ppl ,one of the biggest country in the world china . how he reformed china , how he understands the culture which we must learn .

lee kwan yew has to be learnt too by learning how he walk the talk which is no doubt make the smallest nation in the world become one of the most powerful nation in the world in terms of economics and management .

anwar ibrahim must be given attention with the way he speech , the way he deal with all those task when he was given pressure by the Dr.Mamakthir during 1997 . determination is the key why he can stay until now .

there are stories behind everyone's success . we learn from the others . we learn from our friends too in certain aspect which we are not so good at .

i am still figuring out in my form 6 time , we 13 people went out together , without a leader but we tend to be in one group . The reason a group remain as a group is there is no leader , that is why i prefer not to be a group leader in a group of friends . although in some circumstances i might stand out to represent our friends , but i believed in not to lead friends .

  4. erm....that is a different case....because form 6 friend all grow up in about the same environment ma....so your interest still about the same... so the problem like this wont happen....besides, you know your form 6 friends more rite??

  6. what make a wall between we all are actually the surrounding that we were grown up with . it takes a passionate commitment to understand who is our friend actually . people in taiping has been raised up in a situation which is peaceful . people like me from alor star is used to talk hokkien and obviously quite dare in speaking as we are born in a city which has majority malays in ethnic, do not take me wrong , u will see that my best friend , our senior yuin yuin whom just grad last sem belongs to the same circle .

  7. its really difficult to understand a person... especially those who always keep their thoughts... Really wish can understand them...

  8. one doesn't need to know the all thoughts that are kept in ones mind in order to understand the person.

a simple gesture of understanding them like a simple pat on the back, a touch on their hands or a simple hug is enough for one to show support and understanding without asking..

less questions, more support -- understanding.

  9. ya...i do agree that in certain situation...
but the negative thoughts take control when the body gesture is misunderstood...
